Questions
How do I play?
With one thumb: hold to fly, and let go to drop. Each level shows you its moves before it starts. In Level 1, how you hold depends on what you're playing on:
Touch
Hold anywhere to fly. Slide up to climb, down to glide, sideways to steer.
Apple TV
Hold Select to fly. Click up to climb, down to glide. Swipe to steer.
Controller
Hold A to fly. Pull the trigger to burn harder. The stick steers.
How many levels are there?
Ten, each a different way to play, plus a bonus level. Escape a level to open the next one; the bonus opens after Level 10.
Can I watch the story again?
Yes. In Settings, choose Watch the story: the intro, and once you've seen the ending, the ending and the credits you can play too. Tap, or press Select on the Siri Remote or A on a controller, to turn to the next panel. Menu on the Siri Remote, B on a controller, or Android's Back skips the rest.
Does it work on Apple TV?
Yes. Play with the Siri Remote, or pair a game controller.
Do I need an account?
No. There's nothing to sign up for. From version 1.1, the leaderboards use Game Center or Google Play Games if you're signed in to them, and they're optional.
Where is my progress saved?
Only on your device: your best for each level, the levels you've unlocked, the goals you've checked off on NumNuts' list, and what you've found. Deleting the app deletes it, and Settings, Reset progress starts over. Scores you've posted to a leaderboard stay on Game Center or Play Games, but the game doesn't restore progress from them.
Are there leaderboards?
From version 1.1, yes: one for each level, on Game Center on iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV, and on Google Play Games on Android. If you're signed in, your best times and scores go up by themselves, and the Progress page shows your rank. They're optional: the game plays the same without them and still keeps your own records. Apple and Google run them under your account there, and the game never sends us your name or account. Read the privacy notice.
How do I stay off the leaderboards?
Close the sign-in screen when Game Center or Play Games shows it, or sign out: Game Center is in Settings on iPhone and iPad (on Apple TV, Settings, Profiles and Accounts), and Play Games is in your device's Google settings. Signing out stops new scores. On Android you can also delete this game's Play Games data from your Play Games profile. Read the privacy notice.
Is there a web version?
No. PotHead is made for iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, and Android.
Where do I get it, and what does it cost?
It's free, and it's out now on the App Store for iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV, and on Google Play for Android. On phones and tablets there are short ad breaks between runs, never mid-flight, and one purchase removes them for good. Apple TV has no ads.
I removed the ads. How do I get that on another device?
Open Settings and tap Restore purchases, signed in to the same App Store or Google Play account you bought it with.
Why can't I see his eyes?
That's the point. The pot blocks Totally Safe AI's face scan, so it can't see his eyes, and it can't personalize him.
What's PotHead about?
A kid who wears a steel cooking pot on his head like a backwards cap, so a very helpful AI can't scan his face. He eats snacks, makes gas, and escapes the world it upgraded, one level at a time: jetpacking, racing, driving, throwing, sneaking, surfing, diving, running, and flying.
Does the game collect my data?
The game has no accounts of its own and never asks to track you, and your progress stays on your device. It sends us anonymous play stats, with no identifiers, so we can see how levels play; turn them off in Settings, Share play stats. On phones and tablets, Google's ad service shows non-personalized ads between runs; Apple TV has none. From version 1.1, if you use the leaderboards, Apple or Google keeps your scores under your account there, and your account details never come to us. The privacy notice has the details. Read the privacy notice.
How do I report a bug?
Email us with your device, its OS version, and what happened. A screenshot helps.
